Oz Big Band are delighted to be making their debut at The Ellington Jazz Club with a complete performance of the groundbreaking 1957 album, The Atomic Basie (E=MC2). Introducing the highly talented Yoko Clinch on piano, the band will be performing the album in its entirety.
The Atomic Basie heralded a new direction for the Basie Orchestra - many consider it the turning point from the band’s Kansas City origins, toward the “New Testament” sound that was to define the band for the next two decades. Not only was the album one of Basie’s most popular, it marked the dominance of Neil Hefti as one of the leading arrangers of his time.
In addition to The Atomic Basie, Oz Band will showcase the talents of vocalists Greg Marston and Alicia Broad, alongside a selection of lesser-known Basie arrangements from all aspects of his career.
Be sure to book early for this date; seats are limited and you will be kicking yourself if you miss this special performance!

Oz Big Band is excited to be returning to Club Splanky for another night of hard swining’ Lindy Hop music!
Club Splanky is a monthly dance run by the Perth Swing Dance Society, and is one of the best venues to see the vibrant Perth Lindy Hop scene in action. The event has been run for over seven years, with Oz Band making their first appearance in October 2006.
The band has cemented a reputation as the most popular big band amongst the Perth lindy scene; a large repoirtoire of both rare and popular 1930’s and 40’s music ensures that the dance floor always remains full. This event is a particular favourite of the band - expect a host of new material drawn from the libraries of Charlie Barnet, Tommy Dorsey, Lionel Hampton, and of course the great man himself, Count Basie.
